When David the Giant Killer Fell! 2 Samuel 12:1-13

The Man After God’s Own Heart Finds Forgiveness!

Who is David?

• He Has a Great Heritage! The Tribe of Judah! The 8th Son of Jesse.

Psalm 16:6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.

• He’s A Good Shepherd, Faithful and Great Where God Places Him!
• He’s A Psalmist, Poet and Harpist! His Music Chased Demons!

2 Samuel 23:1 The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel,

• He’s A Man After God’s Own Heart, Who Chooses the One Thing!
• David Is a Man Full of Faith & Trust, Who Remembers God’s Mercies!
• He is a Warrior (King) Killing Goliaths and Putting Foreign Armies to Flight!

You Can Avoid the Fall! 1 Samuel 11:1 –

1. Be Where You Are Supposed to Be!
2. Always Have the One Thing On Your Mind and Heart!
3. Remember Those You are to Be Loyal To!

To God – to His Name – To His Word – His Kingdom! To Your family, If you’ve come from a heritage of hard working, honest, Godly people!- To believers!

Not to the world – Not to the unbeliever – 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

4. When Exposed – Do Not Cover It Up!

2 Samuel 12:1-14: When the Word Comes, Just Agree With It!

1. When The Word Comes, It Comes with Conviction and Grace!

1) Reminds You of God and His Goodness!

• Position – “I Anointed You King over Israel.”
• Protection – “I Delivered You from the hand of Saul”
• Possessions – “I gave your Master’s House to You”
• Prestige – Control over the House of Israel and Judah”
The Word Comes . . .

2) Exposing Your Sin and Showing Sin’s Devastation!

• You Have Shown Contempt for the Word of the Lord!
• You Have Done Evil in God’s sight!
• You’ve Wrecked Your Intimacy with God!
• You Have Ravaged the Relationships With Your Neighbor.
• You’ve Caused the World to Blaspheme Me!

3) The Word Comes Reminding of Sin’s Consequences. 10-12

2. When the Word Comes, it Comes With A Choice!
Humble Yourself or Become Offended!

• Humble Yourself James 4:1-10 and
• Just Agree With God’s Word! “I Have sinned!: It’s Me!

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is Faithful to Forgive Us Our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

• Receive Whatever Discipline God Chooses to Give!
• Receive God’s Forgiveness!
