Encountering Christ!

Mark 5:21-43

What distinguished these two that encountered Christ?

1. They were desperate
2. They were risk-takers
3. They were honest with God

“Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.” –Mark 5:33

4. They believed Jesus could make a difference  

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” –Hebrews 11:6

Why Bother with Jesus?

1. He is available

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28

2. He is sensitive

“Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet…” Luke 8:47

Psalm 139

3. He is calming

Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33

4. He is powerful

“So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” -2 Corinthians 5:16-17
