How We Deny God's Power!
Mike Fritscher, pastor

Acts 1:6-8

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. NASU

Acts 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem , and in all Judea and Samaria , and even to the remotest part of the earth."

2 Timothy 3:1-7 – A Form of godliness, yet they deny the power!

How do we Deny This Power?

1. We Forget God!

 •  We Forget What Christ Did! 2 Peter 1:9
•  We Forget to Honor Him – To Thank Him!

Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.

The Reminder of 1 John: 1 John 2:12-17

2. We Walk in Unbelief!

Hebrews 4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest,

•  Unbelief in the Very Basic Provisions of God! Matthew 6:25
•  Unbelief in Times of Uncertainty and Even Danger! Matthew 8:23

3. We No Longer Treasure Christ Above All!

Matthew 13:44 Hidden Treasure " The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 A Costly Pearl "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
