How We Press on in the Faith!
Mike Fritscher, pastor

Hosea 6:1-11 – The Story of So Many!

Last Week. . .
•  We Forget What God Has Done with Our Sins!
•  We Forget to Honor Him!
•  We Walk in Unbelief!
•  We No Longer Treasure Christ Above All!

•  There are people who are always learning but never coming to the truth.
•  People who have a form of godliness but deny its power.

We Are to Press On!

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Hosea 6:3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth."

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

  1. Remember!

Who You Are and How You Are to Live!

You Are Alive in Christ!

Ephesians 2:1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Am ong them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved), NASU

•  Live the Abundant Life!

Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

•  Remember, You Are Dead To Sin!

Colossians 1:14 in Christ we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

•  Do Not Let Sin Into Your Life!

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

•  Remember, Your Are God's Child!

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

•  Act Like God's Child!

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

•  Remember, You Are Dead to the World!

Galatians 6:14 But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. NASU

•  Avoid Worldly Things!

James 4:4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. NASU

•  You Are Light! Walk As Children of Light!
•  You Are Free! Walk in that freedom!
•  You Are Secure in Christ! Enjoy Your Security!
•  You Are In Grace! Grow in Grace!
•  You Are Spirit Gifted! Employ Your Gift!
•  You Are Heirs in Christ! Keep Adding to your Inheritance!
•  You Are Holy! Lead a Holy and Blameless Life!
•  Your Are Spirit Filled! Walk By the Spirit! Galatians 5:16-25

2.  Always Believe!

You Are A Believer! Believe!

•  Believe God For your Very Basic Provisions! Matthew 6:25
•  Believe in Times of Uncertainty and Even Danger! Matthew 8:23

3.  Honor Christ – Treasure Christ!

•  From a Grateful Hear ! Luke 17:12-19
•  From Your Wealth!

Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.

  • With Your Heart!

Isaiah 29:13 Then the Lord said, "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote,
