The Power of Gospel In Your Marriage! Ephesians 5:22-30

Acts 16:22-34 Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 1. What Does This Look Like in Your Marriage as a Husband? • You Love Your Wife just as Christ also loved the Church! Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. 28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 30 because we are members of His body. • You Live With Your Wife in An Understanding Way ! • You Grant Her Honor as Fellow Heir of the Grace of Life! 1 Peter 3:7 You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. 2. What Does This Do For Your Wife? “It Will Meet the Basic Needs that a Woman Has that a Husband is designed to Meet!” • Security (Spiritual, Emotional, Physical and Financial) • Emotional Intimacy • Significance 3. What Does This Look Like in Your Marriage as a Wife? • You Are to Be to Your Husband as You are to the Lord! Ephesians 5:22 Wives, be to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. • You Are to See to it that You Respect Your Husband! Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband. 4. What Does This Do For Your Husband? “It Will Meet the Basic Needs that a Man Has that a Wife is designed to Meet!” • Admiration • Companionship • Structure in the Home • Physical Intimacy 5. How Is This All Accomplished? • “Through Faith In What God says About Your Marriage!” 1) The Scriptures Say You Are One! Matthew 19:4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5 and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH '? 2) The Scriptures Say You Are Suitable! Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." 3) The Scriptures Say Your Union Is Permanent! Matthew 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." • Through The Attitude of Christ! Philippians 2:1-8 Attitudes of Sincerity, Honesty, Attentiveness, Faithfulness! Attitude that Says, “You are More Important Than Me!” |
