1 Corinthians 9:9-11 Matthew 5:1 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2 He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, 3 " Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. NASU So do you want to be happy? Free? Fruitful? Victorious? Recovered? 1. A Life of Humility! Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. It's a confession – Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. • Of Total Depravity of Heart and Mind! Romans 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS , NOT EVEN ONE ; • Of Humility and Total Responsibility For One's Sin, Bondage and Failures! Luke 18:9-14 – The Publican and Pharisee! Notice what happens when you are humble, when you believe your own depravity and your need for Christ, the one and only true God! What this does – James 4:5-10 • It strips you from all pride. Humble Yourself and Receive the Kingdom of Heaven ! 2. A Life With Appropriate Mourning! Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. This Mourning is called a godly sorrow and Paul speaks of it in: 2 Corinthians 7:8-10 Isaiah 66:2 "But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word. Psalms 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 51 – A Psalm of Confession, Mourning and Freedom! Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. Mourn Over Your Sin and Receive the Comfort of God!
