John 21 Matthew 26:31-36 – Peter Facing the Trial of His Life! 1 st Principle: Humble Yourself! 1. Admit You Have Failed, Missed the Mark and You Have the Propensity to Fail Again! Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE ; 2. Do Not Think More Highly of Yourself than You Should! 1 Corinthians 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 1 Corinthians 8:2 If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; NASU Romans 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; Matthew 26:69-75 – Peter – Tempted and Fallen! 2 nd Principle: Be On the Alert – Remember What God Says! 1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. Luke 22:31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; 32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers." 33 But he said to Him, "Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!" 34 And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me." Romans 8:26-38 2. Jesus Exposes Your Sin and Gives You Opportunity to Repent! Luke 22:60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. 61 The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, " Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times." 62 And he went out and wept bitterly. 2 Corinthians 7:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
